It was a hard week.   Besides the getting-through-the-workday part,  there’s the dealing with the dark mornings, dark afterwork hours, and the cold. I am so anxious to be back outside, seeing daylight, and feeling warmth.  In the past couple of years,  I find that the cold cuts through me like a knife.

Yesterday was a tease, as the temperature rose above freezing, the sky was blue, and the sun was out.   I had a brief inhale of the springlike air,   between the end of the workday and the half hour until the sun went down.

Today it was bitter cold again,  with temperatures dipping towards zero.

Weekends lift my spirits tremendously…..especially the birds.

I know just how you feel Jan. Even though I’m not working anymore, I really don’t like the dark mornings, and I think I can notice the evenings staying light a little longer. This time of the year is so depressing, and like you my birds bring so much joy, so it does help. I can’t wait to get outside too. Sometimes I think I’d like to move someplace warmer where I could be out doors 12 months of the year.
It’s -2º right now, so another bitterly cold one..
Have a nice rest of the week.
PS I hope things at your work place are stabilizing ?

I feel your pain, Jan. The dark, the bitter cold, the morning stiffness…all depressing. It is ,after all late, January.
Hang in there, as my husband says, “less than 90 days until spring”.
This morning is 15 below with added wind chill. A stay indoors day for me.

This extremely cold weather just goes on and on. At least this week is supposed to have some sun with the cold and the days are getting longer. Nice variety of birds at your feeders.
