This past weekend, I noticed that the lilies we have growing by our front lamppost, seemed shorter than I remembered. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. They had been gnawed off, a few inches below their buds. Only one little bud remains for this year’s blooming. We think it must have been a deer, seeing that the stalks were so tall, but it would be odd for a deer to have wandered this far into the neighborhood when there is so little cover.

These lilies are a such a pretty peach color, brought to us by Morgan three years ago, from her friend, Tina’s, wedding. Hopefully, this “pruning” will have no adverse affect, and the lilies will adorn our lamppost again next year.

They’re very bold.

Too bad about the Lillys. Those deer will try anything. Must be the buds were tasty.

Bummer, as we used to say in school. We have a groundhog that has done the same thing with our broccoli and brussel sprouts this spring. As my youngest keeps saying “At least he’s eating healthy.”
