It felt so good to sleep in a little this morning. It’s been an especially rough week at work, so Saturday couldn’t come quickly enough. I could sense that the sun was coming up, but it wasn’t until it was fully in my face, that I pulled myself from bed, and started my day.

It’s been several weeks since I have given the house a thorough cleaning, and today was the day. I scrubbed the kitchen and bathroom, vacuumed the rugs, and got the week’s wash underway. George had bought a new steam mop last night, and he tried that out on the floors. It did a really nice job, especially on the laminate. That has been a chore to keep clean ever since we put it in. He mowed the lawn and ran the weed whacker before the afternoon rains. After lunch, we headed out on errands – dropping off prescriptions, filling the propane tank, buying new bath mats, a stop for bird seed.

The few times that I was out back today, I could hear the screech of a killdeer, and suddenly I was aware of two little ones, well-camouflaged in the neighbor’s lawn. Last year they had a nest under a fence, and it seems that maybe they have chosen the same spot this year.

As we had our dinner, the rain poured down, and small pellets of hail were bouncing off the picnic table. Now it is cool and gloomy. The lilac blooms are fading, as are the tulips. I expect to pick some rhubarb in the next couple of days – I’m thinking, rhubarb crisp.

Another full day is ahead tomorrow, but much of my to-do list got scratched today, thank goodness. Weekends are never long enough.

Just made a rhubarb strawberry pie… yummy. But we do not have the rhubarb beds here. I think it is too warm. Have to hope to see it in our local grocery store for just a couple of weeks during the year.

Would love to hear more about the steam mop. That is something I have been contemplating. We have laminate everywhere, except a the living room where there is carpet.

Willow Caroline, we bought the Shark steam mop, made by Euro Pro. Very easy to use, light-weight, just fill with distilled water, plug it in and mop. He used it on the laminate, our vinyl tile, and also the ceramic tile in the kitchen. It was a good purchase. (I sound like the info-mercial :)

Nice picture of the killdeer. They’re such neat birds.
